8th May

Vocational day again. In NHS Primary Care Trust – Middlewich, there is a massive effort put on planning the most effective interventions in health care which are designed according to a specific area's needs. These people want to know what is the best way to spend their money for. There is this program of huge importance to a great portion of the people about self-management of long-term health conditions, a 6-week course many patients undergo. Many thanks to Geoff Woods who actually spend his whole day with me. In Crewe Health Centre (Eagle Bridge), I had the opportunity to speak with a GP in the Delamere Practice, Dr Gerard O'Sullivan, who gave me an insight on some certain difficulties GP's have to face. Many similarities to the greek system. Finally I got to speak with the Chair of Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust, Prof Pauline Ong. We discussed about her vision on how to make practice more effective and hollistic. After such a busy and tiring day, James and I decided to go to the Macclesfield Beer Festival. We drunk quite a few half-pints of ale in a crowded space with at least 1000 people. I got myself a baguette with ham and sauce and I thought I should also add two eggs. These people seem to pickle about EVERYTHING!!! It was actually pickled egg for heaven's sake!!! We had a great time overall though! I even bumped into John Brooks with his friends and had some great conversation!
