In the morning John took us to the cobalt and copper mines of Alderley Edge. Many paths and many people with their dogs, children running up and down among the trees. We visited the "museum" which was like more of a room actually, but there was a chap who explained many things about the mines. Overall we had a walk for an hour or so. At lunch time we got to the silk museum at Macclesfield and next to it there was the old silk mill. A nice lad showed us how things used to work in there -and you can safely bet all your money- this place made a hell of a noise! Storm brewery was next. It is a local brewery that produces some decent english beer for local pubs. Its owner just loves the whole procedure which he actually explained pretty well so we could understand how beer is made. He even lives in the brewery in another room! Doesn't have great dreams for the future though and prefers to keep his local business as is. Unfortunately there were no samples of the various beers he produces. John's boat trip to the Macclesfield canal was next on schedule. Lovely canal, anxiolytic pastime, the water is somewhat dirty though. The boat's speed was enormous! There was that little girl, 4-5 years old who could actually WALK faster!!! And of course made fun of us! It was so nice.
