5th May

Taken to an orientation meeting at the Fairview, which is actually the house of a rotarian, Alastair Bain. The house was on top of a hill, some 50m away from the castle folly of Mow Cop (Bald Hill in latin we were told). It is the actual border between Cheshire and Staffordshire. From there we went to a pub(lic house) for lunch, The Red Lion was it, in Lower Withington. Alec, Derek, Alistair, Zacharias, Vasilis and I ate lunch and then went to the Jodrell Bank telescope. Being part of the university of Manchester, it is one of the biggest steerable telescopes in the world. There was a small museum there as well as a 3D theatre. Movie starts at 3pm, we got there 3:10 pm. Bad luck!! Home at Bain's for a last minute checkup of all the setting up of projectors and cds and presentations etc. We then had our first presentation meeting with RC Haslington. Met some lovely people there and ate the typical english breakfast (eggs and bacon), although it was like 7:30pm!!! We did quite well!!!
